I’m teaching a class on the Book of Revelation for Great Lakes Bible Institute, and tonight we’ll be looking at Revelation 14-16. The close of chapter 16 details the seventh bowl of wrath, and the last verse reads
and huge hailstones, about one hundred pounds each, came down from heaven upon men; and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, because its plague was extremely severe.
My curiosity about hail led me to Wikipedia’s entry. The last section detailing “Costly or Deadly Hailstorms,” was very interesting. However, there’s no comparison with the hail that will come upon the earth near the end of the Tribulation.
Wikipedia had a link to a good video of a hailstorm in progress:
Of special note in the video is the size of the hail and their effect on buildings, power lines, and vehicles. And that was just baseball size hail!
UPDATE: Check out the pix and stories on this website as well.
During our “family devotions” this morning before school began we did a quick survey of these seven divine judgments rendered upon wicked men during this period. It made us grateful to God for his promise to us:
to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come…God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thess 1:10; 5:10)
I sure hope you’re right. Er…we’re right.
Devotions from Revelation at the Andersons’ house are not quite so comforting, eh? 🙂
That might be an interesting time for sure! 😉
While watching that video, all I could think of saying was, “Wow!” Simply amazing.
