My last two posts referenced you to the preparation for and the actual baptism of an Amish young lady.
Amish observe communion (or, the Lord’s Supper) only twice a year. Before they observe it, they take time some weeks before that to make sure that all the church members are obeying the ordnung, which refers to the various rules that each Amish “church” must adhere to. These rules are somewhat (!) arbitrary – the churches vary in their styles of hat, how curtains should appear, what color buggy you should drive, even how you wear your suspenders (crossed, straight, etc).
