Psalm 41-43 and 1 Corinthians 7 this morning for my Bible reading. Noticed some interesting statements in 1 Cor 7 and similar passages—
“the time has been shortened” (7:29)
“the form of this world is passing away” (7:31)
“the world is passing away and also its lusts” (1 John 2:17)
“it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed. The night is almost gone, and the day is near” (Rom 13:11-12)
In light of the imminent end of all things, these passages consistently urge believers not to live for the things associated with this present age (that will soon pass away), whether possessions, personal experiences, or even marriage.
Prepared for some visits today and tomorrow. Trying to figure out how I’m going to get everything done. :-p
Had a good study time at the Ring’s. Used the 25 minute drive there and 25 minutes back to think and plan.
Studied for Sunday AM sermon on John 1:35-51.
Worked on cleaning out Ashley’s old room / my new office.
Took Andy, Meagan, and Hannah to Pioneer Cemetery in Windsor, one of my favorite cemeteries.
