Last day of the month of August, 2010. There will never be another 31 days like this day. It was fitting, then, that Psalm 39:4-6 was some of the Scripture I read—

“⁴“LORD, make me to know my end
And what is the extent of my days;
Let me know how transient I am.
⁵“Behold, You have made my days as handbreadths,
And my lifetime as nothing in Your sight;
Surely every man at his best is a mere breath. Selah.
⁶“Surely every man walks about as a phantom;
Surely they make an uproar for nothing;
He amasses riches and does not know who will gather them. ”

Worked on recording our audio presentation of the gospel. When you’re working from square one—as I am—with audio and you’re Lone-Rangering it, you need to learn how things work and take your time with it. I had to learn the software (Audacity, an amazing, free tool), prepare the text, etc. Basically, I had to think about the finished product (“this is what it should be like”) and then figure out how to get there! I burned the first CD at 3pm, thrilled to have gotten to that point, even though it’s got a ways to go before its “done.”

Made CD copies of this past Sunday’s sermons. I’m rarely gone from the pulpit, but I couldn’t be in two places at once this past Sunday. I asked Pastor John Ashbrook to preach for me, which he kindly agreed to. This was a great treat, as he’s not really filling the pulpit that much anymore. He preached in the morning service on the Second Coming of Christ, and the afternoon on 1 John 3:1. He started his morning message by stating that Christ’s return isn’t really preached on as much as when he was younger. I remember hearing Dr. McCune say the same thing while I was in seminary. Christ’s return—both for his church and then later to the earth to establish his kingdom—is a truth I have enjoyed studying for some time, and I agree 100% with Pastor Ashbrook and Dr. McCune. It needs to be preached more! I would encourage you to study more at some materials I presented earlier this here (click here and scroll down to “Class Eight” and “Class Nine”).

One of our church members has been asking for a “large print” version of the literature we’re mailing out, so I made the large print version of our third literature item.

I finally got my grades back from the seminary summer school class I took at Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary—a B+!!! I’ll take that. The class was Greek exegesis of 2 Peter and Jude, perhaps two of the toughest books to translate. Additionally, I was taking it as a Master of Theology course for three credits, not the normal two, so there was extra work to do. To top it off, it was an extremely busy time. So, I’m definitely grateful for that B+!!!  🙂

Cleaned out most of Ashley’s bedroom in preparation for my office. Finished a video with the kids from the Creation Museum. A pretty good day overall.
